Solid Hub chainwheels control overhead valves by mounting directly to the valve or gear operator stem which eliminates the need for valve hand wheels.
Available in the following materials:
- Cast Iron is our most economical material. It is recommended in mildly corrosive environments.
- Ductile Iron is more shock resistant than cast iron and is required for conversions to a hammer-blow style wheel.
- Aluminum is a light weight alternative that comes with a stainless attachment set.
- Corrosion Resistant is recommended when the chainwheel will be exposed to a corrosive environment. We can offer the chainwheel and all components with an epoxy coating which comes with a stainless steel attachment set.

Solid hub chainwheels are installed directly to the stem of the valve or gear operator after boring. If you require boring prior to receiving the chainwheel, please let us know the boring specifications at the time of ordering.
- Boring to user specifications or shipped solid for customer boring.
- Safety kits provide a secondary attachment to reduce the potential hazard of a falling valve hand wheel. Included in the kit are a safety cap and 5 feet of 7x19 stainless steel wire with 4 stainless steel clamps. To order a safety wheel, use the part numbers below and add “SW” to the end of the alpha section of the part number (e.g., DIRGSHSW-2.5). HIGHLY RECOMMENDED
- Hammer-Blow mechanism can be attached to the spokes of the chainwheel and provides the “hammer” action that facilitates opening and closing of sticky valves. To order a hammer-blow mechanism, use the part numbers below and add “HB” to the end of the alpha section of the part number (e.g., DIRGSHHB-2.5).
- Chain is required for chainwheel operation but is not included in the price due to varying length requirements. For more information on chain, visit our chain section.
